Our team across 43 hospitals, 25 pathology centres and range of independent living services are already living our purpose.

Last year, we treated about 600,000 patients, delivered more than 12,200 babies, performed more than 360,000 surgical procedures and 6.7 million patient pathology episodes.

And 2019 is shaping to be another big year.

Each month, we will showcase highlights of how we are living our purpose.

A Taste Of Harmony
A Taste of Harmony celebrates diversity in Australian workplaces by encouraging colleagues to share food and stories from different cultural backgrounds from across the globe.

At Healthscope HQ, we celebrated traditional (and not so traditional) foods of many cultures including Sri Lanka, Peru, Philippines, Greece, Poland, New Zealand, France, Pakistan, India and of course Australia- from ‘Dhal curry’, ‘Papa a la huancaina’, ‘Empanadas’ to ‘Tim Tams’.

There is nothing quite like food cooked with love to bring people together!
We Balance for Better for International Women's Day
The 8th of March was International Women's Day and the theme of 2019 is #BalanceForBetter. The campaign strives for a gender-balanced world, something that is not a women's issue, but an issue for us all.

At Healthscope, we are working to achieve gender equality in the workplace by promoting a culture that is inclusive, underpinned by a variety of employment conditions and workplace practices that promote gender diversity including flexible work arrangements, merit based recruitment and selection practices, promotion and transfer opportunities, and equitable conditions of service.
Together we Paint the Town Teal for ovarian cancer awareness
The month of February is dedicated to raising awareness for ovarian cancer, a cancer that kills more women than any other form. This year in Australia alone more than 1,600 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and more than 1,000 women will die from the disease.

In order to do our bit for the women who are living with ovarian cancer, our hospitals all around Australia put on a Paint the Town Teal fundraising event. So far, we have raised over $2500 together- and counting! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far.
Exceptional Patient Care Good News Stories
Arthur Yannakou, State Manager for QLD/NT/SA/WA, regularly sends out positive feedback that had been communicated to celebrate the highest quality clinical care that our staff provide patients each and every day.

"I was very impressed with the level of care, interaction with staff and the staff interaction/working as a team. I was confident throughout my stay that I was receiving the best possible care and that all staff were working towards the same desired outcome."

Holmesglen Thank You Tree
With inspiration from the Victorian Rehab Centre, Holmesglen Private's GM Keryn Hopkins created a Thank You Tree as a way for sharing positive feedback received from patients with staff.

"Recognising the personal impact that the actions of staff has on patients is very rewarding".

Every month they receive positive feedback and comments from their patient survey responses and a couple are added to the leaves of the tree.
